British Airways Maintenance Cardiff Ltd (BAMC) is a highly
focused company that has become the benchmark for aircraft maintenance.
Established in 1993 at Cardiff International Airport, we are a wholly
owned subsidiary of British Airways plc. BAMC undertakes all the heavy
maintenance on British Airways Fleet of Boeing 747 (Jumbos) and 777
aircraft. Throughout the maintenance of over 500 aircraft inputs,
our people centred approach has created an exceptional focus on quality
and safety.
Each aircraft check is a £0.5m project. A single major check relies on the completion of over 30,000 individual tasks in approximately 30 days.
Such work includes the strip down, rebuild and testing of pneumatic,
hydraulic, electrical and mechanical systems that are all interdependent.
To achieve this, BAMC changes between 0.5 to 1.0 million components
on aircraft each year.
In a business where a single mistake could literally be disastrous
and life threatening, how does BAMC control these hugely complicated
projects?
Our success means that control is absolute. Aircraft inputs
are planned from two years out and controlled by the hour.
