The decision was based on the fact that the UK was undergoing a renaissance as an automobile manufacturer. The site of 809,000 square metres was purchased between Cardiff and Bridgend in June 1989, the buildings finished in September 1990 with production beginning in January 1991.The 1 millionth alternator was produced in May 1992 and by the end of 2002 the plant had produced 40 million alternators. We supply the majority of European car manufacturers and we hold numerous customer awards as well as TS16949 and Investors In People accreditation. We have about 1000 employees. Two thirds are directly involved in the manufacturing process and the others in support activities, not just for Cardiff plant, but for Bosch alternator production all over the world. Teamwork is at the very heart of our manufacturing philosophy, which is underpinned by continual improvement activities involving the whole workforce. |
