| Schaeffler (UK) Ltd is
a member of the German-owned Schaeffler Group, one of the world's
leading roller bearing manufacturers and automotive component
suppliers. The Group employs a total of 58,000 employees at over
180 locations around the globe with sales in 2002 in excess of
£6.7 billion. The UK manufacturing plant is based in Llanelli and employs 300 people. It supplies high-precision engine components to the automotive industry. Schaeffler (UK) Ltd manufactures products to the highest specification and is accredited to both IS0 9001 and IS0/TS16949 quality standards. Schaeffler was also one of the first companies in Wales to gain accreditation to both the environmental standard ISO14001 and EMAS. In addition Schaeffler uses the Investor in People and EFQM Excellence Model to improve its processes. Schaeffler places the highest priority on the development of its people and in 2001 embarked on a Culture Change Programme which focussed on learning and the development of a culture of continuous improvement.The culture change programme has the title 'L>C', which translates to 'the rate of learning must be greater than the rate of change'. By practising this, whatever change is necessary in the future, Schaeffler has the necessary skills, knowledge and expertise to adapt and achieve its business goals.
